The Install.. | |
|
You may have read, "B3 Ghetto Gauge Faces" where I showed how to do a cheap mod to your gauge faces with just some paint and stick-on numbers. Since that last mod, I have changed a few things in the interior, like a Momo steering wheel and MK4 shift knob and boot. The new accessories have a black and chrome thing going and I wanted to continue with that into the cluster. So, out goes the red gauge faces and in goes the stock black faces, but with some really cool polished aluminum gauge bezel rings! The bezel rings were tough to source especially for the B3 Passat! I finally found some, but had to import them from a German company called Tachoringe. They use quality materials and the fit is almost perfect. The best thing is, they look like they were meant to be there and blend in perfectly. These rings remind me of the new MK4 Jetta/Golf style bezel and give the Passat an updated and sporty look. The install is pretty straight forward and requires only basic hand tools and some adhesive to pull it all off. |

Procedure.. |
|
|
» Remove the plastic trim in front of the cluster
» Remove the two small Phillips screws that secure the gauge bezel to the actual cluster (unless you are changing the gauge faces, there is no need to remove the whole cluster)
» Clean the inside of the transparent plastic
» Buff the rings with a soft cloth to remove dust and finger prints
» Apply adhesive to the inner grove of the rings and slide them into the bezel and press into place
» Allow adhesive to dry fully as per manufactures instructions
» Reinstall the bezel onto the speedometer cluster and enjoy!
Don't forget to keep at least one eye on the road while you are admiring your new gauge bezel!!
